All Blacks Long Sleeve Culture Jersey 2024/2025
Released to celebrate the 25-year milestone of the partnership between adidas and New Zealand Rugby (1999-2024), this long-sleeve culture jersey pays homage to the very beginning of the three-stripe era. The bold, quartered black-and-white harlequin pattern directly revives the iconic late-1990s training and opposed-session shirts worn by Jonah Lomu, Tana Umaga, and Anton Oliver during the 1999 Rugby World Cup in the UK.
Combining late-90s nostalgia with modern lifestyle wear, the jersey features classic rugby construction: a structured drill collar, hidden placket, ribbed cuffs, and a durable cotton-poly blend. Finished with the embroidered silver fern, it stands as a tribute to one of the most storied chapters in All Blacks history.
The 1999 Kit Paradigm Shift:
The 1999 Rugby World Cup marked the official debut of adidas as the All Blacks' kit supplier, ending decades with Canterbury of New Zealand. While the match kit maintained traditional, sacred solid black, adidas introduced high-contrast training apparel. The quartered harlequin drill top was designed specifically for opposed squad sessions, giving coaches clear visual separation between the starting XV and the wider squad without resorting to training bibs.
Jonah Lomu’s Historic Campaign:
The imagery that made this quartered jersey famous came from the training fields of Croshorne and Twickenham. Lomu wore this strip while preparing for a tournament run where he scored 8 tries - a single World Cup tournament record that stood unequalled for years. This included his devastating solo try against England in pool play, where he broke through four defenders at Twickenham.
